Julian Week In-Review

- Julian is starting to lecture us. He looks up at us quite sternly and begin a two minute discussion about topics philosophical. Unfortunately his vocal skills are still rudamentary, so we're not always sure what he's telling us, but he certainly seems to have a lot on his mind. He has also taken to long discussions with surrounding objects and the air itself. It's endlessly charming to watch him tell the world at large about the great mysteries of life.
- Along with becoming increasingly vocal himself he delights in being spoken too. Looking him in the eye and talking to him will typically get at least a smile, sometimes peels of laughter.
- Emotions play across Julian's face when he's sleeping. Laughter, anger, confusion and delight. He makes new expressions almost daily.
- Manual dexterity has been growing by leaps and bounds. Last week Jules tried and succeeded at grabbing my nose. The look on his face was priceless. He was so proud of himself for actually getting what he was aiming for. Along with his improved accuracy he's taken to gripping things that come within his reach quite strongly and not letting them go.
- I couldn't get over how enormous Julian is getting. I swear there are days I come home and he's bigger than when I left.
- Jules' hair is looking increasingly red. I'm not sure if it's because he's wearing the hair off of his head or if it's actually a different color.
- Previously a scarce commodity, spit has become a constant companion to Julian's lips. He burbles it up, plays with it, spit it out. Sometimes we're wiping his mouth every thirty seconds.
Eyes are more consistently brown Eye color still pretty variable.
- Jules is now almost able to turn over 180 degrees at will. He still hasn't consistently figured out that he has to put his arm down to complete the turn, but that can't be long off. Sadly that also means we have to watch him carefully when he's on the couch or changing table so that he doesn't suddenly roll off.
- When placed on his stomach Jules is starting to coordinate his limb motions in a sort of pre-crawl. It won't be long before he's figured it out... then we're really in trouble ;)
- In general these last few weeks I've been feeling increasingly more like a (very lucky) father and less like a guy who also happens to have a son. I like being a papa.
