Busy week for Julian

Been a big week for Julian:

  • Last Wednesday he had his first major nightmare. He woke up at 3 am screaming and wouldn't be comforted until we took him out of bed and carried him around a bit.
  • His laugh continues to develop. Although I haven't had the fortune of hearing it, Laris has heard him gearing up for a real belly laugh. I'm looking forward to it.
  • He's getting more discerning about his entertainment. Too much time in one spot is a recipe for unhappy baby. He wants to explore and see new things.
  • I have strong suspicions that Jules is in a growth spirt. The last few days he's been sleeping more than usual and eating quite enthusiastically. He has also been crankier when he's awake, which I attribute to some growing pains.
  • Tonight we witnessed him turn over on his side independently for the first time. He didn't make it onto his stomach, but he rolled onto his side quite decisively, whereupon he promptly fell asleep. It was so cute.
  • This Thursday we're supposed to have our first vaccination meeting. We've been cramming as much vaccine information into ourselves as we can get our hands on. It's scary stuff in a lot of ways and the tradeoffs between vaccine side effects vs. being unprotected are not easily weighed. We'll see how it goes.
